Cookie Policy
Effective date: September 25, 2026
AnyCheese sets a small number of cookies to keep forms working, to count poll votes once, and to see which pages people read. This page lists all of them.
Cookies we set
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
csrftoken | Protects the contact, feedback and suggestion forms against forged submissions. | 1 year | Necessary |
sessionid | Keeps site editors signed in. Only set if you log in to the admin. | 2 weeks | Necessary |
anycheese_voter | A random identifier so the "which would you pick" poll counts each browser once per comparison. Not linked to you. | 2 years | Functional |
_ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics. Distinguishes visitors and measures which pages are read. | Up to 2 years | Analytics |
_clck, _clsk | Microsoft Clarity. Records clicks and scrolling so we can see where pages are confusing. | Up to 1 year | Analytics |
We also use Clicky to count page visits. We run it with its cookies turned off.
Cookies set by others
Cloudflare, which sits in front of the site, may set a cookie on anycheese.com that it needs to tell people from bots. Google and Microsoft may set cookies on their own domains when their scripts load. We do not control those, and each company's privacy policy applies. Turning analytics off below stops the Google and Microsoft scripts from loading at all.
Browser storage
Two small values live in your browser's local storage rather than in cookies: whether you have closed the cookie notice, and whether you have turned analytics off. They stay on your device and are cleared when you clear site data.
Turn analytics cookies off
The switch below stops Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity from loading in this browser and removes the cookies they set. It does not affect anything else on the site. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
